This family home was having lawn drainage issues due to poor landscape installation and uneven ground. So, we brought in about 25+ yards of topsoil to level the ground. We also created an elevated island flower bed to increase the aesthetic value.
With a lot of river rock and a simple post and rail fence, we completed the look of a natural setting that blended in well with the surroundings.
Although the steps in the rear of this home served their purpose, we knew a lot more could be done to add value and beauty to the landscape.
We installed a beautiful 12′ x 20′ cedar deck with a lattice skirt that could be used for entertaining, bbq’s, or simply enjoying the sunshine.
What was once an attractive retaining wall with an elevated flower bed now became an eyesore that was creating drainage issues for the lawn below. We saved what we could and removed the dead brush and blackberry bushes.
With some extra topsoil, we evened out the lawn below and ensured the runoff from the elevated area was diverted properly. Some bark and small shrubs really brought back the beauty and value of this landscape.
While a planter this close to your door may seem like a good idea, you’re very limited in what you can put there. With little to no sunlight or natural irrigation, watering these flowers and small shrubs would be a chore most would eventually give up on.
A beautiful and tranquil water feature is exactly what this space needed. With the sound of constant water flow and led lights that can be adjusted, you can set the mood to relax after a long days work or entertain guests on the patio.
With years of neglect, this deck was no longer safe for use. We had to completely rebuild this from the ground up.
An attractive but simple cedar deck was just right for this location. Now, the customer can enjoy the beautiful view and entertain guest with peace of mind.
At Pro-West, we give our customers the best value for their money. The customer, in this case, needed a new deck. We saw that beneath the deck was an area that could be used as storage if it stayed dry. We designed the deck to be impervious and added a gutter to divert the runoff. We even installed galvanized mesh fencing as railing to create an interesting yet cost effective design element.

Although the customer’s lawn was healthy and green, they preferred an area to BBQ and entertain. We decided on a courtyard setting with a low wall and electrical outlets.
The cement used was tinted to reduce glare with an exposed finish. LED lights were installed along the walkway to reduce any trip fall hazards. We even saved the Lace Leaf Maple tree and kept it as the centerpiece.
With the home 50s style architecture, this landscaping project was designed to complement and contrast this era. The driveway being original with the house, a new driveway was poured with matching walk stones and steps.
The resulting landscaping ended up being extremely complementary to the home while remaining simple and easy to care for.
One of our more challenging projects included the complete renovation of the customer’s hardscape and landscape. We began with the idea of removing the stairs and creating a short incline to the front door. This required quite a bit of engineering and tons of topsoil. To protect the siding, we built a short stem wall and installed drainage pipe and rock. The pillars near the front door had rotted at the base so we built river rock pillars that we then mirrored on the three car garage built for the client. In addition, we graded and poured a driveway with post and ground lights along the edge. Finally, a nice 2 tier retaining wall was installed with a level sod lawn and river rock border.

A rather plain looking deck can easily be upgraded using TREX decking and attractive wire railing system.
While a stainless wire railing can be pricey, the trade-off is an improved view of your surroundings and a look that can modernize your house and improve home value. Wrapping the posts in cedar is a nice touch that adds just a little more beauty to the finished product.
